Tree mulching is standing stems, not a harvest
Tree mulching turns standing aspen, poplar, and smaller spruce into chips where they stand. You are not selling logs. You are opening ground. If a sawmill truck is what you wanted, we are the wrong call. If you want a pasture back, this is the page.
Aspen bluffs on a quarter are the usual tree mulching job here. They start as a clump in a slough and walk out into the grass. Ten years later the mower does not fit. Forestry mulching is the parent method. Tree mulching is the pass that is actually trunks, not willow.
Size and access decide whether a forestry head is honest. A big spruce against a house is often a falling job. We say so. A bluff in the middle of a pasture is the job we take. Roots stay unless we grind. Pasture reclaim often wants stump grinding after. A back fence in the bush often does not.
If you want a few stove rounds, say so before we start. We can leave larger pieces at the edge. We do not sort a lumber pile. Chips stay on the rest.
How a tree mulching job runs
Walk
We walk the bush with you. Stem size, access, fence, power lines, and what has to stay.
Mark
Ribbon on keepers: a spruce by the house, a shelterbelt, a corner post. What is marked stays.
Mulch
The forestry head mulches in place. Trees and brush become chips on the ground. No burn pile.
Grind
Stumps that will snag a mower or a tire get ground. Not every stump needs it. We say so.
Walk again
We walk it with you before we leave. You get what we did, what we left, and the chips stay.
Ranges, not a bid
Typical machine time on this kind of work often runs $250–$450 an hour depending on the head and the stems. A fence line is often a half-day to a day. Pasture reclaim is often several days. Typical stump grinding often runs $150–$400 per stump depending on diameter and access. Those are typical ranges, not a bid.
Aspen, poplar, and the odd spruce
Central Alberta bush on these acreages is mostly aspen and balsam poplar with willow in the wet. Spruce shows up in old shelterbelts and around yards. We mulch what the head can take without putting a building at risk. We leave what should be felled by a saw.
Tree mulching in Camrose often sits on quarter-section corners and the aspen that filled a slough. Leduc County lots mix planted spruce shelterbelts with volunteer aspen. Wetaskiwin river-side parcels can be sandier and the poplar grows like it means it. Hay Lakes wet ground grows dense, shorter stuff that still counts as trees once the stems are past a wrist.
